AmeriCorps Ready Readers Director
Join our team and become our AmeriCorps Ready Readers Program Director.
The United Way of Kershaw County Ready Readers Program is designed to partner with the Kershaw County School District and the elementary school literacy coaches to improve grade reading levels by the third grade. In our school district alone, there are over 300 elementary school students not reading at grade level exiting the third grade. The intend of the program is to provide AmeriCorps members to assist working with these students to help improve their reading skills to grade level.
The Ready Readers Program Director is responsible for the daily operation of the AmeriCorps program and the 20 AmeriCorps members assign to the elementary schools in Kershaw County. The program director will also work with members and school literacy coaches to recruit volunteer readers where needed. This is a full time United Way of Kershaw County position, and you will be part of our United Way team. This is an outstanding opportunity for someone with an educational background and experience to further their career in education with our Ready Readers Program.
