Darlene Thomas

Darlene has over 25 years non-profit experience. From central New York, she feels she has been blessed by God to have a servant’s heart. She ran one of the largest homeless shelters on the east coast. Darlene and her husband moved to South Carolina with their three boys in 2009. She volunteered in the community and became Executive Director of Food for the Soul. She helped grow the shelter into a year-round 24/7 resource for homeless men, women, and children. Darlene was excited to be asked to join United Way. She enjoys growing another program here in Kershaw County.
Betty Stewart
New Day Transitional Housing and Homeless Services Director
Todd Warnock
Marketing and Communications Director
Todd grew up in Camden and, after a few brief years in NC, came home to raise a family in his hometown. Together with his wife, Kelly, they raised three children here, and now get to spend time with kids (and 3 grandkids!) After attending Clemson and Columbia International University, Todd spent 25 years working in technology and banking before entering full-time pastoral ministry where he serves as the Executive Pastor at The River Church. After serving on the UW board years ago, his love for his community and desire to give back brought him back to the United Way. When he’s not playing with grandkids, enjoying the local eateries in Kershaw County, or working in his woodshop, he can be found traveling the roads with his trusty shelter dog sidekick, Cheeto!
Shanna Redfearn
Ready Readers Director
Shanna joined United Way of Kershaw County in July 2022. She has a passion for literacy and empowering our Kershaw County Community through education. Shanna attended Presbyterian College for undergraduate and received her Master’s in Social Work from USC. She comes to United Way with a work history in early childhood, and also medical social work and community health education. She lives with her family here in Kershaw County and is excited about the work of AmeriCorps and the Ready Readers program.
Beverly Heaston

Beverly moved to South Carolina from Indiana in 1987, living in Camden ever since. She has been married since 1979 and has two sons. Beverly worked for Kershaw County School District 23 years in the Pupil Enrichment Program, P.E.P. A few years after leaving the school district, she started volunteering with the Mobile Nutrition Center and is now the Pantry Manager. Beverly loves her job and couldn’t think of a better way to give back to her community.
